ZENDAYA, the self-titled album, was released on September 17, 2013 by Hollywood Records. She began recording for the album shortly after she signed with Hollywood Records in August of 2012. The genre on the album is rhythmic pop. Zendaya describes her sound to be "pop music with an urban twist". Zendaya has been working with numerous producers and writers, and has done some writing and producing herself. The lead single, Replay, was released on July 16, 2013, and the music video will premiere on August 15, 2013 on VEVO and Disney Channel. On September 11, 2013, Zendaya released the album's tracks via VEVO. It was also announced that Parachute, was a Target Deluxe bonus track.
The Suspexs, The Monsters, theStrangerz, Bobby Brackins, Avis, DJ Flict, Jaiden the Cure, Zander Schmalholz, Zendaya, Tim and Bob, Ms. Mary Brown, and Rock Nation are confirmed producers and writers.
A source for Zendaya reported a 12-14 song tracklist. The tracklist is confirmed to be 12, including the bonus track.
"Smile" was never confirmed to be a song. Zendaya sang the song and posted it on her YouTube channel.
On Mobli, she post a video of her in the recording studio singing the lyrics, "Giving Everybody Body What They Right Now".
